The U.S. Department of Energy has released $6.6 million in federal funding for UND’s Energy and Environmental Research Center for research into clean coal technology and hydrogen research, according to a press release from U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D.
Dorgan helped secure the funding as chairman of the Senate’s Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee, according to the press release.
The EERC will receive $3.8 million for research that will help produce new technology for “clean coal” and other fossil fuels, along with $2.8 million to continue work at its National Center for Hydrogen Technology.
